i want to clean up this blog which is why i haven't been updating, but in the mean time, i just finished this piece for my illustration class. i had a lot of fun with the lighting, idk.

while i'm at it, here's a city environment i did recently. it is what it is; i've never done cities before.

haven't updated in a while. here is a piece i just finished for 'drawing from the tablet' class, as homework.

this is me, drawn from life in front of a mirror with my tablet. it doesn't look that much like me, i wasn't too concerned with likeness for once.

little matchgirl reimagined

for concept art, we were to choose a story and reimagine it. i chose the little matchgirl, which i changed to her being under the sea. she lives on star power and looks for shooting stars that fell into the ocean; she gets weaker as her search goes on since she is using up the power of her star and can't find another one since they're so rare.

i'm about 30% happy with the character but I have no more time to work on it. the environment is one of the places she discovers on her search for stars.

i also included some thumbnails/wips of the environment at the bottom.

for digital illustration, we had to give our own take on a fairy tale, and do a character piece and an environment (two separate pieces). i chose sleeping beauty. this is her in her dream-scape, and i combined the two pieces. i'm going to cut this piece in half, so the top will be the character piece, and the bottom will be a more detailed environment of a dream-scape. i don't follow directions well...

We had an assignment to do a flying machine or submarine. Naturally, I did the flying option, as my goal in life is so float in mid-air. ;D

(It's a taxi. Sure, there is a risk of falling to your death while riding it, but the views are awesome!)

this is an exercise of my personal struggle to get away from photorealism, still. im trying to be more loose and experimental and put texture and atmosphere into my pieces. this was for class actually, but i had a lot of fun with it (not to say class work can't be fun haha) so i started doing this in a photorealistic way but then i caught myself and destroyed it. yeah!

I have to do 100 paintings for digital illustration class. Not finished pieces, but more like color and composition studies, on the 'versus' theme. These are the ones that are due tomorrow (plus 4). I did the versus themes in columns, so the first four in a column are alien vs. predator, the second are shade vs. sun, the third man vs. nature, etc.
